Can Drop shock troopers be real?

I've just played HALO ODST and im not a fan boy in the future 2020-2030 Do you think there will be Troopers who come in pods from the sky? Not from orbit but from a plane reaaaaaaaally high up? And if yes how would you design it and how would it work. Dont copy too much from halo.
