Why do nonviolence theorists believe their methods are superior to violence?

I am writing a paper on nonviolence and how the philosophy of nonviolence approaches conflict and further analysis on this philosophy. I am just looking for others' point of view to kind of open my mind to different views. There is much more I need to cover on this paper, but I wanted to trigger my mind with what others think to get started and have a side on whether nonviolence really seems to be the right method of resolving issues, locally, nationally, and worldwide.

Could I visit Canada, and feel safe and welcome there?

I'm an American from Texas. I got a friend who is a Canadian American whom I worked with at a nursing home. I don't go around acting like I'm superior to anyone. I don't look at any race to be superior nor inferior to any. We're all human. My dad tells me that he's heard stories about American tourists, and vacationers in France. He tells me the reason these awful stories are because those individuals were acting like they're better in some way. You can't do that in any foreign country, because people will do the same back to you. My question is could I visit Canada sometime, would I feel welcome provided that I treat everyone with respect, and act like a normal gentleman, and a civilized human being? My dad stopped in Canada on a cruise once, and he said Canadian people were friendly.

Why don't people get that medical costs are due to the pharmaceutical companies?!?

A lot of the cost comes from the "research" spending done on pharmaceutical companies but here's the fact: Pharmaceutical companies spend the majority of their profits on advertising rather than research. I don't want to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but I feel that the monopoly that is the pharmaceutical industry is what's the problem in the United States. I'm not opposed to Universal healthcare at all, but I feel that if this problem were addressed, then a lot more problems would be solved with it. Computer got '' Blue Screen of Death '' and wont start up normally help?

I recently moved into a newly constructed basement apartment. I also participate in the HUD program. This apartment was inspected and approved by HUD officials. When I put my gamecube game into my wii, it spins for a few seconds and then stops?

I got a few GameCube games from my friend who's had them and hasn't taken the "best" care of them. I have one in particular (Sonic Adventure Battle 2), that does this. I can put the game in, load up the console, click on the game channel, click start, and then the game will spin in the console for a few seconds and then stop. What puzzles me is that neither the "An Error Has Occurred" screen, nor the "The Game Disk Could Not Be Read" screen pop up. The screen remains black until you reset the system. Ok so first of all my boyfriend is a crossdresser. That should be known up front. We have been together about 7 months. About 2 months into it I found out he was a crossdresser. personally i think you are doing the right thing as he will be attending a school that best suits his needs, if the school is one that has a good reputation then its likely he will receive one on one attention and be able to better his skills. It sounds as if he is a fast learner, however he may find that he is met by a lot of criticism in a main stream school mainly by other children which may cause him become distant and refuse to participate in many of his lessons. Dark purple looking scars on the lower part of my back. Looks like someone beat me with a switch?!?

I havn't ever had any really bad trauma on my back, nor can I remember having any injuries, but in atleast the past four months I've had a large, long dark purple, scar looking mark on my back. It's horizontal and looks like someone beat me with a switch. Although it doesn't hurt, my back has felt pretty achy, sort of like it's about to snap under pressure. Anyway, recently I've noticed that there are more little marks appearing around the large horizontal one. They look very similar to the larger, original one but they're smaller in size and a little scattered, although all in the same general area. Anyway, this whole ordeal totally perplexes me because how could I have scar looking marks without ever experiencing any trauma or injury?! Why does god throw all these challenges on my family?

I'm 18 and I live in Brooklyn in a harsh neighborhood. First I'll begin with my beliefs. When I was younger, I didn't believe in god even though I was baptized and christian born. Lately I've been feeling more spiritual with myself and even though I didn't believe in god, I still read about Christianities history and laws (due to my huge interest in history). Now, I don't fully believe in god (although I do believe in a single 'energy' up there) but I still follow many of his laws and try to keep my sins to a minimum (even small things such as not littering). I was always a kind kid always wanting to help people and just have friends and find love. However, because of the harshness of my area I was led to drug abuse and scams (although they weren't as extreme level as most of my surrounding people). I;ve been praying for my safety and my moms safety. In return, I had my car vandalized for $10,000 of damages (because of one of my friends actions), last week again all my tires were slashed (again because of something other people did) and I can't do much about it, even though I never meant the people that did this to me any harm or scams. On top of that, a year before, my dad had an affair with my mom and left us, took almost everything we had from us, and left us in bankruptcy. Its just me and my mom living in a rented apartment with low on money and my mom is trying extremely hard to find a job. She's been having health problems because of the seperation and her emotions are getting worse rapidly because she's losing hope of finding a job and our cash reserves are running very low and I pray for the best, mostly for my mom even before myself. In my junior high school and high school years, I never had friends and instead everybody would always make fun of me because I couldn't properly adapt, instead of partying I would stay home and read about politics, military, history, and music because those were my interests but everybody around me thought otherwise. I never had a girlfriend because I never was the type of guy to have sex with a girl and leave them or play around with their emotions because love around here is just a game, and all the girls that I liked have rejected me always. As for my drug abuse, I do them significantly less as before and been trying to just get away from everyone I know for a while now, because theres no trust here at all between people that I've even known for years, which led to my car being vandalized more then twice and other instances which cause a high alert for me and my mom, which naturally makes my street experience rise. Me and my mom go to church every now and then and I still like to talk with god and ask him for help, but everything just seems to get worse, that I only have enemies around and no real friends, not me nor my mom. I don't think I've ever sinned so much to deserve all this and I ask for forgiveness for anything bad that I've done. I heard that karma usually hits hard for something my family has done before, but this is too much, will god ever help us? I just have no clue where else to turn too.

When I tried putting it back in it was hard to get in and it started bleeding and hurting. The moon and this one bright star (Most likely Jupiter) next to it always sat right next to the sun as it came up (At about 4:30 AM, Northern Hemisphere). Why do I GET dark circles from eye creams?

I have very sensitive skin, and for years and years I have used Dove Sensitive Skin cream around my eyes (the orbit of them, where they are darker) because it has been the one and only product that actually gets rid of dark circles for me. Thing is, everything else, and I mean everything, actually GIVES me dark circles. yes, gives me them. In the past a girl at the makeup counter was shocked when I came back with the product because it looked like I hadn't slept in a week, and I never had the dark circles before. They only really come out when I use eye creams or anything around them, EXCEPT Dove. Bascially, it's almost as if when the eye area gets moisturized I immediately have dark circles that show more. I don't know what to do as Dove has discontinued their skin (face) care products. I have tried everything and it gives me dark circles. The only way I didn't have them was when I used that cream. You can definately take them home today if you want. Kittens can be taken from their mothers at 8 weeks so they are fine. Also you could take them home in a cardboard box if you want although if you can get a carrier that would probably be a bit better. As for the genders, it doesn't really matter as long as if you get a male and female and don't want them to breed (which would cause more problems than you think because they are siblings) just make sure you get them spayed and neutered. As for what you should buy for them I'd say food, toys, a litterbox and litter, and a bed if you want them to have one. Good luck with your new kittens!

I accidentally marked a valid email address as spam. Now I'm no longer receiving the email from the company. I've checked the spam folder, and the daily email I used to receive from the company is not even being routed to that folder. I've gone to the Options setting, and tried to search for the email address, to mark it as not spam, but it's not in the list. I just noticed that it's indicating 500 of 500 at the top of the spam email list. Apparently, I've exceeded the 500 address limit, but it's still allowing me to block email and mark it as spam. The problem is, it seems to be going into some type of black hole listing that I can't get to, nor does it route it to the spam folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

On june 15th I was scheduled for Nasal Polyp surgery. After the first week the nose specialist put his instruments up my nose to start cleaning up the blood clots. Today I went to visit him again and he does the same thing except for it was more painful since he had to go deeper. He numbed the nose even. Apparently my left nostril is inflammed so he gave he prednisone and I have to take it for two weeks before seeing him. After the appointment I went and ate breakfast which I could easily taste. Now its the evening and I have no taste nor smell. Is the inflammation causing this? Help!

What are the OCR GCSE Art and Design Grade Boundaries for the exam and prep (aka "Set Task)?

I thought that the exam and prep was marked out of 100, and an A* would be 95+, but my friend has recently said that 90+ is an A*. I got 91 on my mock and received an A. I did my real GCSE Art earlier this year and was completely happy with the amount of work I did, as I did twice as much prep than what I did for my mock. There has been dispute this year over the marks my school has awarded and apparently there has been overmarking (of an average) of 6 marks, so I'm just wondering where I would sit, as I think everyone exam and prep will get knocked down by 6 marks. Are My Self-Esteem Issues Bad Enough That I Might Need To Seek Help For It?

I'm 13 years old and have extremely low self-esteem. I constantly worry about what others think of me to the point if I even walk in a room and someone looks my way I'm afraid their criticizing me on how I look and what I do and then sit there and think of all the horrible things their probably thinking right then. If someone points out the smallest of things wrong with how I look I feel like a total moron and hide my face for the rest of the day til i can get home because I'm positive everyone else noticed it too. For example, in Volleyball, I sort-of spiked the ball and it got us a point and all my team mates were clapping for me. All my friends are out spending time with each other?

I am 16 years old and yes, still living under my parents roof but there is no shame for me in saying that. I'm very close with my family and even all my cousins and I feel like we're siblings. Since I was brought up in a traditional family, my parents are also quite conservative but I don't drink alcohol, smoke or have sex, nor do I try and sneak this behind their backs. It's just lately, as it's summer, all my friends and classmates are out together. I don't belong in a big gang but I have a few close friends who I wanna spend some time with also, because I feel like if I don't we'll drift apart.. but my parents hate it when I try to find an excuse to get out of the house because they say that they're doing this for me in the long run and I'll thank them for it, then you get the 'kids go missing every day and they don't know what they'd do if that was me' etc. which I understand but how do I feel like I still have some sort of social life. Were your parents protective over you and did it benefit you in any way?

Ok. So there is this thing that has been bothering my more than anything.. Its making me extremely depressed :'( about January 2010 i met this guy, we started talking and whatever & we ended up going out. I regret it so much but we had unprotected sex. I checked today not too long ago & they ( i think there was 2 ) were almost gone.. now they look like little pimples slowly going away. As far as i know i havent had anything on my Vagina or on the inner side on my lips and stuff but i do have little bumps all over the inside on my lips ( ive read that its normal and most woman have them) So i dont know what to think of it. Today i also noticed that i had little pimple type things that were tiny on the inner corner of my lips on my face kind of going allong my bottom lip. And my top & bottom lip seem to be kind of white onderneath the skin ( ive read that it can be normal for most people to have white on their lips).For my thigh ive only noticed this once before but it was kind of between my hip & thigh. I just watched a tv show about the moon.?

While I agree with the first respondent, I have read that in as little as 2,000,000,000 years, the Moon could escape from Earth's gravity. Then it would orbit around the Sun in essentially the same orbit as the Earth, and then eventually crash into Earth, ending all life on Earth. But NASA has at least 1,999,999,990 years to figure something out, so I wouldn't worry about it that much. I have also read that due to the gradual warming up of our Sun's luminosity, that all of our oceans will boil away in as little as 1,000,000,000 years, which would essentially end any further escape of the Moon from Earth's gravity. In that event, we would need to leave the Earth entirely(toohot!) or else biologically adapt to daytime temperatures of 200-300 degrees F. I vote for leaving the Earth and colonizing other solar systems long before that happens anyway.

Why do I get dark circles from eye creams?

I have very sensitive skin, and for years and years I have used Dove Sensitive Skin cream around my eyes (the orbit of them, where they are darker) because it has been the one and only product that actually gets rid of dark circles for me. Thing is, everything else, and I mean everything, actually GIVES me dark circles. yes, gives me them. In the past a girl at the makeup counter was shocked when I came back with the product because it looked like I hadn't slept in a week, and I never had the dark circles before. They only really come out when I use eye creams or anything around them, EXCEPT Dove. Bascially, it's almost as if when the eye area gets moisturized I immediately have dark circles that show more. I don't know what to do as Dove has discontinued their skin (face) care products. I have tried everything and it gives me dark circles. The only way I didn't have them was when I used that cream. Does anyone know what the problem could be, why this is happening, and a good eye cream for sensitive skin and dark circles would be? Please and thank you..

Smoking a real stick like a branch?
